My Passion for Reading

Hi! I'm Akunna! As a strong advocate for reading, I believe in the transformative power of books. Despite the fact that many Americans prefer watching TV over reading, I've always found immense value and joy in immersing myself in literature. My love for reading began early, thanks to the vast collection of books in our extensive home libraries, one upstairs and the other downstairs, each boasting giant bookshelves that stretched from one edge of the room to the other, I had a treasure trove of knowledge at my fingertips. Growing up in Nigeria, where power disturbances were usually a daily occurrence, reading became my go-to source of entertainment. Whether it was exploring the endless worlds within the pages of a book or playing outside with our family dogs, books provided a constant and enriching escape.

The Therapeutic Power of Reading and Writing

Every day I give gratitude to God for many things, including the ability to read and write. Reading and writing have been instrumental in improving my language fluency. Seeing words on a page helps me remember them, and if I want to remember something, I write it down immediately. This practice has not only enhanced my vocabulary but also solidified my grasp of different languages. For me, reading and journaling serve as a form of therapy, providing a safe space to process my thoughts and emotions. I've learned so much from the stories of others, gaining new perspectives and insights along the way. The process of reading and writing is also incredibly fun, allowing me to sharpen my grammar, boost my creativity, and continuously strive for language mastery. It's a journey of constant growth and discovery, one that I cherish deeply.
